Researchers at the Chemical Engineering department of the Amirkabir University of Technology have introduced a solvent used for conventional separation in oil and petrochemical industries using natural ingredients that are cost-effective for the industry. Hamed Sedaghatzadegan Esfahani, an Amirkabir University of Technology graduate with a master’s in chemical engineering (a sub-discipline of separation processes at the Amirkabir University of Technology) and the project manager, stated that “This research sought to achieve a new solvent as a replacement for the dangerous organic solvents prevalent in the industry and use it to separate aliphatic from aromatic substances”.
